Travel
It is estimated that duties related to this position may require up to 10% travel, to and from the program locations, specific medical/research facilities, or institutions. Location and percentage of travel requirements are estimates, and may vary per assignment.
May require physical company-sponsored travel to China (Nanjing Medical University), if project requirements deem it necessary. Applicant must have the legal ability to travel to-and-from mainland China.

Position Summary:
The Medical Research Grant Analyst will work closely with international Grant Teams, Project Managers, and Staff to assist with grants and projects development, provide analysis, post-award services, and oversight to ensure current and pending grants, current projects, and procurement and purchasing requirements are in keeping with parameters and expectations, as outlined in the terms and conditions of the respective comprehensive grant agreement.
The Medical Research Grant Analyst is the subject matter expert in the field of clinical research to include proficiency and experience with human subject research, grants management, conflicts of interest, investigational drugs and devices, and research fiscal management. The Medical Research Analyst serves in a peripheral oversight capacity to independently and methodically conduct complex clinical research audits or other department projects in accordance with respective regulations, institutional policies and the terms and conditions outlined in the comprehended grant/funding agreement. Routine duties may include preparing compliance audit reports, providing supporting evidence and defending the findings and recommendations made regarding identified compliance deficiencies or gaps. The Medical Research Analyst will be able to develop compliance-related corrective action analysis. The ideal candidate will have healthcare compliance, academic or research experience.
This person will have thoroughly knowledge about the grant and project awards for the respective recipients by the granting Board of Trustees, and will review grant and project procedures in the areas of ensuring research protocols, lab operations expenditures for compliance, and will serve as a resource for the respective grant and project-funded program, for fiscal and programmatic compliance matters. This position will work closely with project managers to provide ongoing status updates and reports to all levels of the Phuran Philanthropic Management Team, and the granting Board of Trustees. This position will work with various grant and project managers to provide technical assistance and advice in matters related to grant and project administration and management.
Essential Functions:
Perform thorough research related to proposed programs or projects, grant applications, and their respective applicants.
Perform post-award compliance and oversight duties, including, but not limited to: ensuring documentation related to all grants and program projects is available, current, and reflects that the specific program or project is compliant with comprehensive grant agreements.
Prepare analysis to determine that grant and project deliverables are being met, and provide dispassionate assessment of the program’s progress and effectiveness.
Monitor compliance and identify if there is a need for corrective action actions or recommendations, ensure related documentation is complete, and communicate progress related to the issue.
Facilitate regularly scheduled meetings to ensure grants and projects are tracking according to award requirements and spending within the agreed upon time frames.
Maintain grant and sponsored project tracking systems and assist with preparation for Trustee reporting, as requested.
Participate in the audit process which may include single audit events, or special audit projects.
May assist with research and advise on new or current grants, or grant extensions, and project opportunities related to existing programs.
May assist with the preparation of applications and agreements, review of criteria, and negotiation with and for internal and external customers on behalf of the grantors (Trustees) as it relates to grants and projects.
Develop, review and update grant-related procedures as needed.
Required Qualifications:
A - Language Requirements/Qualifications
ENGLISH - Candidate must speak, comprehend, read, and write English at a professional level, equal to ACTFL level 09 or higher, CEFR level C1 or higher, or ILR level 2 or higher.

B- Educational Requirements/Qualifications
Candidate must possess a Master’s degree, or equivalent, in Epidemiology, Medical Research, Pharmacology, or related discipline, from an accredited master’s level program.
[An equivalency assessment or applicable Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) may be required for applicants who have secured a university Degree or Letters from higher education institutions outside the U.S., Canada, or the United Kingdom. An equivalency assessment (i.e.; ABET Assessment) is not required at the time of CV/Resume submission.]
C- Work/Experience Requirement
Six (6) plus combined years of experience in records management, grant research, grant programs administration or development grant operations experience.
Strong understanding of research protocols, and/or protocols related to grant-related research projects or programs.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suites.
Experience planning, developing, and implementing complex research and statistical reports and presenting the results to all levels of management.
Ability to work effectively with groups, staff, and government officials of different nationalities, ethnicities, language proficiencies, socio-economic backgrounds, and religious affiliations.
Provide excellent and professional customer service to both internal and external clients.
D – Other Requirements.
Applicants must be able to perform on-site inspections and visits to locations where grant or program services are being performed. To that end, applicants must have the ability to travel out of their respective home country, and legally enter and egress another regional area or country without undue personal, medical or legal encumbrances.

E –Preferred
Any previous work experience or project coordination with one of the following organizations is a plus: the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), formerly, Department of Foreign Aid of the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM); Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB); any Oxfam Asian programs, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO); or the E.U’s European Union- Directorate-General for International Partnerships.
It is preferred that the candidate can speak, read, and write Chinese (Standard), at a professional level, equal to ACTFL level 06 or higher, CEFR level C2 or higher, or ILR level 3 or higher.

It is preferred that a candidate possesses a Ph. D. in Biology, Medical Research, Epidemiology or related field, from an accredited institution of higher learning.
