Base Compensation:

  • Range:             $115,200 - $125,400 (U.S)

  • Remote work opportunity available for a moderate percentage of assigned tasks/work hours. Remote work availability is determined by the logistics and the practicality of working away from a central office, and is only available if conducive to the company’s business needs.

Position Summary:
The  Forensic Auditor, will operate under the working title of Program Auditor, and serves primarily in sole contributor role, with minimal supervisory requirements associated with the position. The Program Auditor will be tasked to examine and evaluate financial and operational records of third-party entities who have applied for competitive grants. The Program Auditor will execute audit assignments, identify issues or areas of note, formulate strategies and resolutions for risk-based assurance and advisory engagements, for the benefit of our clients. The Program Auditor will be familiar with forensic accounting philosophy and procedures, perform risk and internal control evaluations, and will be expected to understand advanced audit techniques, research and analysis, and conducts client meetings and interviews. The Program Auditor will adhere to the Institute of Internal Auditors' International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Standards) and Code of Ethics. The Program Auditor will ensure to secure, archive and oversee grant, compliance, and financial records related to their respective division’s grant oversight and vetting operations, in accordance with Phuran Philanthropic policies.

The Program Auditor will be thoroughly knowledge about the grant and project awards process, and maintain a working knowledge related to all active grant proposals within the assigned area.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Independently performs audit test work timely and with high quality.

  • Executes audit engagements throughout the audit life cycle, to include understanding of horizontal and vertical business impacts, integrating audits with Information Technology (IT), analytics, and projects.

  • Ensures engagements are completed objectively, expertly, timely and in accordance with corporate and industry audit standards.

  • Leads day-to-day engagement-related efforts including work delegation to contracted audit team members with varying degrees of expertise and experience when conducting engagements.

  • Completes audit team end of engagement evaluations, when AIC.

  • Assists in updating the risk & control matrix for each engagement with oversight from the Auditor-in-Charge and/or other Audit leadership.

  • Identifies control weaknesses and opportunities for improvement in the current operating environment; develops recommendations for corrective action

  • Assists in drafting related issues and audit reports for review by Phuran Philanthropic leadership.

  • Participates and provides feedback during team audit activities on planning and scoping, business understanding/walkthroughs, and review of risk assessment and testing and demonstrates critical thinking ability.

  • Completes audit documentation techniques including key risks and controls alignment to audit test objectives and conclusions; is accountable for completing work paper documentation within quality standards.

  • Applies analytical skills to conduct or assist team members with continuous monitoring activities, advisory activities, special reviews and/or investigations.

  • Develops internal and business leader and partner relationships while also beginning to effectively challenge, communicate and deliver risk-based, difficult messages regarding issues and control weaknesses to ensure proper risk assurance coverage.

 

Required Qualifications:

A - Language Requirements/Qualifications

B- Educational Requirements/Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Accounting or a related field, such as Business Administration, Finance or Forensic Accounting that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting, or an equivalent educational degree.  

  • Candidate must possess at least one of the following certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or an equivalent certification recognized in Canada or the United Kingdom.

[An equivalency assessment, or applicable Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) may be required for applicants who have secured a university Degree or Letters from higher education institutions outside the U.S., Canada, or the United Kingdom. An equivalency assessment (i.e.; ABET Assessment) is not required at the time of CV/Resume submission.]

C- Work/Experience Requirement

  • Five (5) combined years of experience in accounting, audit, financial assessment, or directly applicable experience.

  • Strong understanding of the US GAAP, accounting procedures, or audit processes, financial audit protocols, and/or protocols related to financial review of grant-related projects or programs.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suites, specifically MS Excel, and ERP Oracle Financials.

  • Experience planning, developing, and implementing complex research and statistical reports and presenting the results to all levels of management.

  • Ability to work effectively with groups, staff, and government officials of different nationalities, ethnicities, sub-cultures, language proficiency, socioeconomic background, and religious affiliations.

  • Provide excellent and professional customer service to both internal and external clients.

D – Other Requirements.

  • Applicants may be required to travel locations where grant or program operations are being performed. To that end, applicants must have the ability to travel out of their respective home country, and legally enter and egress another country or autonomous regional area without undue personal, medical or legal encumbrances.

  • All Phuran Philanthropic employees, contractors, researchers, and consultants, regardless of their operating location or country, must complete an 8-hour course specifically dedicated to our company’s privacy polices, and all must sign and adhere to strict, and actively enforced non-disclosure and non-compete clauses.

 

E –Preferred Qualifications

  • Any previous work experience or project coordination with international relief agencies, or experience with global development grants, is a plus.

  • It is strongly preferred that the candidate can speak, read, and write Portuguese and Spanish at a professional level. Candidates who can demonstrate a functional and appicable use of the Portuguese language (writing, speaking, translating) will be afforded additional consideration.
